We left Taormina right after breakfast and shared a taxi with the McInerneys for flights from Catania (ours to London and theirs to Paris). We were staying in South Kensington at Aster House where Leonie runs the show.
Per Leonie’s straightforward directions we took the tube from Heathrow requiring only 1 train followed by a 3 block walk to Aster House. (Exit the station to the left and cross the street to Starbucks. Turn right and pass the Lamborghini shop. One more block, turn left and walk to hotel on the right!). It was a terrific location.
We arrived about 7 and were ready to eat. Leonie suggested the Hunter’s Moon pub for an easy dinner – no need to change clothes. It was a 5 minute walk and perfect. We had no reservation but decided to order a drink at the bar and eat bar food if no table was available. But even before we got our drinks we were told that a table was free – whenever we were ready. We chose to enjoy the charming bar atmosphere until we had finished our delicious chili cucumber margaritas.

The dining room was equally warm and the menu was a welcome change after 2 weeks of Sicilian fare. We both ordered roasts (one beef and one chicken) with Yorkshire pudding, twice roast potatoes, and beans. Comfort food after a long day’s journey.
