Cleaned the trash, packed and waited for a taxi to take us to the Palermo airport Avis car rental spot. Our AirBNB host arranged for a taxi to get us which was extremely helpful. He also charged less than his meter registered. (D & I paid 70 to get to town. This ride was 50.). The woman who cares for the apartment was there and I explained to her that we had cooked shrimp but froze the shells to prevent smell. There was a note in the rental directions that you were not to smell up the unit cooking fish.
A line of people at the Avis counter delayed us getting a car and the car we were given was larger (longer) than expected. But, so far the roads are larger and having such a large car has not been a problem. David has done very well navigating traffic which is more like a school of fish than parallel lanes.
We headed for Montreale. A hill town just out of Palermo with an (another!!) amazing church of mosaics. We had pizza and salad for lunch and toured the church. As with prior churches our touring was a little limited because there was a wedding. I approached one of the guests who spoke English and asked if it was customary to hold weddings mid- week. I was told that you have to get the church whenever it is free.

Then on to Agrigento. An easy drive. We decide to go straight into the town for dinner and then to our hotel which is nearer the temples. Dinner was really good and the hotel is lovely. We have a huge terrace off of our room with views of the temples and the sea beyond. We all had a lemoncello on the terrace before retiring.
