Our first full day in Aix happened to also be a Saturday – the largest market day of the week. Of course we were there. Bought fruits and veg for the house and just took in the beauty of the produce. While wandering through the town we came across a wedding at the town hall and sushi restaurant with amazing decor.

When we return to the house – only 2 blocks outside the historic area, we found the door to the kitchen closed. We had left a window open and the breezes are so strong that doors are slamming shut if you are not careful to use door stops. We tried for about 5 minutes to get the door open with no luck. So, I took a trash can outside and climbed in the – luckily open – window. Adventures in paradise!
In the evening we drove to Chateau D’Arnajon for a tour of the grounds and a dinner. Bernadette does not cook much but the owners of the house where we are staying had made us a chicken stew and rice which fed us.
The vegetable garden provides much of what they eat and drink. We had tea from their verbena plants. The cactus garden is a fabulous work of art. There used to be more donkeys and dogs but now only 1 donkey and 3 dogs.
