October 15-16 London

We had been seeing a lot of medieval and renaissance art so I googled post-impressionist in London.  Up came the Courtauld Gallery and off we went. It’s a pleasant space and MUCH less crowded than the National or V&A.  Then we split up.  I wanted to go to the Tate Modern and David wanted to climb St. Paul’s Cathedral dome.  We planned to meet at St. Paul’s at 4:30 for 5:00 evensong. The Tate Modern is on the south side of the Thames and there is a very nice bridge that starts at the museum and is a few blocks from St. Paul’s on the other side. It was a lovely walk.

For our last night we had decided to return to Hunter’s Moon and had made a 7:00 reservation since it was Saturday night.  The asst manager remembered us and brought us chili cucumber margaritas on the house.  They were just as good as our first night and the menu dramatically different.  It was a wonderful bookend for our stay.

Sunday October 16 back to DC
Easy commute back to the airport.  My 7 day pass had expired so instead of using my Oyster Card I just used my phone.  Tap your phone on the scanner to enter.  Tap again to exit and get charged the appropriate fare.  The only reason to have an Oyster Card is to get a multi day pass. Note to self for future trips to this wonderful city. I am ready to return anytime.
