Book group departs – or at least breaks up. And, the Charleston High School group begins.
Sandy is off early to catch her flight back to DC. Janet comes to the house to get Pat for their day trip to other parts. Monika calls an Uber to take her to the Frye museum where there is a bowl she wants to buy and take home (she ends up with 2 bowls). I am waiting for Carolyn, my high school friend host who is driving a long way into town to get me. Roberta is going to see an old work colleague who retire to the area. Carolyn arrives a little before 11 and we take Roberta to her friend’s house in a gated community. The members of my book group have many agendas!
Carolyn and I get to her house and have a light bite to eat. We then go for a walk on a trail near her house. Although her house is up a hill there is a community beach with a dock. The public trail runs near the beach and threads through beautiful homes on waterfront properties. All along the walk there are wild blackberries which we occasionally eat. They are the sweetest I have ever tasted. After getting back to the house and cleaning up we go out for dinner. Had a very nice Italian meal in Issaquah. Then we finished the evening with a terrible movie that we watched to the end despite it’s lack of talent in any way. Shirley McLane, Jessica Lange and Demi Moore in the worst roles of their careers. Not sure who produced the film but he/she must be an extremely nice person or a great blackmailer.
Carolyn’s home is lovely and it is great to spend time with her.
